Variations on a Renaissance Cord
by Elaine Fuller
Spiral, 8.5" x 11", $12.00
Lacis Publications, 1998.
Lucet cords may have gone back as far as Viking times. Most certainly lucet cords were used
in costuming from the renaissance through modern times. During the depression, wooden spools
were drilled out and nails attached for the lucet prongs. The more typical wooden Y shaped
lucet is used for illustraion in this book. This booklet covers basic terminology,
single cord, twisted stictches, left-handed use, multiple thread cords, beaded cords,
troubleshooting and applications. The illustraions were done by Sorrel Smith and are excellant in my opinion. . . Ursula
