Making Metal Jewelry!
Ready to take your jewelry-
making skills to a whole new level? Getting Started
Making Metal Jewelry is designed especially for
beginners who want to open the door to a world of
creative jewelry making. Master teacher Mark Lareau,
author of the best-selling All Wired Up,
introduces newcomers to the craft by demystifying
the techniques, the jargon, the processes, and giving you
the confidence to get started.
Each Project introduces a new skill,
such as cutting, drilling, soldering, hammering, and
polishing, and each chapter builds what's been explored
previously. Begin with a simple pendant, French wire earrings,
an attractive bracelet with a letter punch design, simple
elegant earrings, then learn to add stone settings to your
pieces and much, much, more. Follow projects in sequence
for the best results, gradually mastering each basic skill.
If you can imagine it, you can amke it.
Mark Lareau started his wireworking
and metalsmithing odyssey in 1998 when he began making
simple wire jewelry and basic mobiles. In 1992, Mark and
his wife Viki, opened The Bead Factory, a full-service
retail bead store in Tacoma Washington, and he has been
teaching classes ever since. Viki and Mark are also the
founders of the Puget Sound Bead Festival, the most successful
consumer bead event on the West Coast. Mark is the author of
All Wired Up (Interweave Press, 2000), with 75,000
copies sold.
