Big Belt Shuttles

Beautiful, exotic woods are the backbone of this ancient shuttle
design. A nice easy handle to hold onto and a crisp edge to beat your
cardwoven or inkle design with. They even feature a convenient hole for a cord
to hang this shuttle on the wall or from your belt.

Stick or Sword Shuttles by Beka, Inc. of MN

Pickup sticks are used for special patterns or supplemental designs
while weaving as well as for tapestry weaving. Choose one that is

Ski Shuttle by Schacht Spindle of CO
Made to hold medium to heavy yarns, the ski shuttle is
designed so that the yarn is wrapped horizontally around the
top of the ski. This leaves a smooth bottom for sliding smoothly
across the warp on a multi-harness loom.

Slim Boat Shuttle by Schacht Spindle of CO
Well balanced and smooth, this boat shuttle is Ursula's favorite for thin to
medium weight yarns, like 10/2 cotton. It's finished with hand-rubbed Danish
oil. Great for weaving on a multi-harness loom. The low height is also
good for narrow sheds or for people like me with bad aim. Additional bobbins
are sold separately.

Assorted Belt Shuttles by Woodstuffs of NC
Since Woodstuffs has gotten into furniture-making, there is an unusual assortment of woods
and lengths available for recycling into shuttles. Since these are totally reclaimed from scrap,
each is unique. Available in Small/Medium/Large. Large being about 8". Give us a call for
color and sizes available. All have the same basic shape and a nice edge for beating.

Fancy Belt Shuttles and Stick Shuttles

Highly polished shuttles made from exotic woods are just delightful to the touch. Called by the name of fancy belt
shuttles, they are shown in upper half of picture. These shuttles measure 7.5" long and have the same sharp edge
for beating. The shape is designed so that the thread does not unwind much when you drop it. Stick shuttles,
as shown in lower half of the picture, are 1" wide by 7.5" long. They work better for thicker threads or for
narrow rigid heddle pieces. Please call us for availability of wood desired.
Since these are all handmade, it takes time to replenish out of stock items.
